This study of impedance responses of inhibitor desorption during an anodic process of iron in acidic medium showed that the unstable inhibitor layer causes an inductive loop on impedance plots as the potential approaches the desorption potential. With increasing applied potential
the double layer capacitances increased rapidly to a larger value with a sharp turning point at the desorption potentialE des
and the transfer resistances gradually decreased to relatively low values in the vicinity ofE des. The dispersion effect
at the same time
continuously increased independently of the desorption potentials. The above results are discussed for the case of an adsorbed inhibitor layer desorbing from an anodically polarized metal surface.
